High-density, rigid polyurethane foam
100% CFC-free, formaldehyde-free, and contains no hazardous ingredients
Density:
Approx. 10.9 lbs/cu ft
Dimensionally stable; less than 3% water absorption when immersed in 92°F water for 180 hours
Factory Finish:
Matte white acrylic primer, ready for painting
2. SPECIFIC PROPERTIES
Visible Surfaces:
The manufacturing technique ensures a hard, smooth surface with sharp edges and precise motif reproduction.
Dimensions:
Length of molding: 7’ 10-1/2”
Thermal and Hygrometric Expansion:
Thermal and hygrometric dilatation: Tests have shown that the material has a behavior close to or better than that of wood: its dimensions can undergo the influence of variations of temperature and more particularly of humidity.
The same precautions of use are applied.
Compliance with fitting and storage requirements and good adhesion are enough to ensure the quality and the lasting of the product.
3. USE
Fitting and Storage Conditions:
For best results, moldings should be fitted and stored in conditions similar to the final use environment. Place the molding where it is to be installed at least 1 day before installation to allow the molding to adjust to the room humidity and temperature.
Avoid installation on wet surfaces (e.g., fresh plaster) or in forced drying conditions (e.g., heat gun, dehumidifier, excessive heat).
Backing Surfaces:
Suitable backing includes indoor plastered or wallpapered surfaces, coated plaster, cement, wood, etc.
Surfaces must be clean, dry, dust-free, degreased, and flat. Sand if necessary.
For special substrates, consult our technical department.
Adhesive and Joints:
Recommended adhesive compound for moldings:
• Optimum adhesive thickness: 1/16” (1 mm)
• Apply adhesive over all joints and surfaces to be bonded
• Leave a 1/16” to 1/8” (1–3 mm) gap filled with adhesive at each joint
• Do not apply adhesive below 46°F (8°C), above 86°F (30°C), or in direct sunlight
Surface Work:
Moldings can be painted with any paint suitable for acrylic primer, excluding silicate-based products.
4. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Regulations on Hazardous Substances:
Polyurethane products are not classified as “very toxic” or “toxic” under current regulations.
Environmental Protection:
Products are free from solvents, formaldehyde, and CFCs. Manufacturing processes are environmentally friendly.
Fire Safety:
• Flash Point: N/A – Avoid open flame
• No unusual fire or explosion hazard
• Flame retardant coating (Albi Cote FRL-X) available
• Extinguishing Methods: Dry chemical, CO₂, foam, or water
5. SAFETY & HANDLING CONTROL MEASURES
• Respiratory Protection: Not required
• Ventilation: Adequate ventilation when cutting or sanding
• Protective Gloves: Not necessary, but recommended
• Eye Protection: Safety glasses with side shields when cutting or handling
• Other: An eyewash station should be available during cutting or sanding
Important Notes:
These elements are strictly decorative and not structural. They are not designed to bear loads and should be isolated with flexible joints from any elements subject to movement or stress.
Fire Retardant Coating (Albi Cote FRL-X):
Albi Cote FRL-X is a water-based copolymer intumescent coating offering excellent fire-retardant properties. It is odor-free, quick-drying, and easy to apply and clean. Designed for interior use, it forms a thick, insulating foam when exposed to temperatures above 300°F (149°C), limiting flame spread and insulating the surface. It offers a decorative, washable, mar-resistant finish with Class A fire-retardant properties.
